Our History

The Motor City Stars hockey organization was founded in 2007 and began as a partnership between former NHL player Peter Ciavaglia and the non-profit Human service agency MORC Inc.  Previously named MORC Stars, the team has grown in size and has evolved in its ten-year history to become The Motor City Stars.

The Mission

The Motor City Stars and its affiliate the 501 (c) 3 charity Skate to be Great is unique in its approach to what it means to be part of a team. Winning is wonderful, but having compassion, self-reliance, being dependable, building relationships, having respect for self and others, and being your personal best both on and off the ice are the founding principles of the organization.  Motor City Stars truly are people who "Skate To Be Great".

The Motor City Stars are one of only four special hockey organizations in Michigan.
